Ridley Scott Still Wants To Complete His Alien Trilogy

But will he be able to?

In an interview with LA Times, Ridley Scott got candid about the Alien franchise, and how finishing the Alien trilogy is still very much on his mind.

“I still think there’s a lot of mileage in Alien, but I think you’ll have to now re-evolve,” Scott told the outlet.

He continued, “What I always thought when I was making the first one [was] why would a creature like this be made and why was it traveling in what I always thought was a kind of war-craft, which was carrying a cargo of these eggs. What was the purpose of the vehicle and what was the purpose of the eggs? That’s the thing to question — who, why, and for what purpose is the next idea, I think.”

Scott’s plan has always been for Prometheus and Alien: Covenant to be the first two part of a trilogy, with the third film leading us directly into the events of the original Alien. However, the consensus on Prometheus was divided, and Alien: Covenant underperformed at the box office. Now that Disney owns the franchise, it remains to be seen if Scott will ever get to fully realise his vision and complete what he started.

Scott’s current film is The Last Duel, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, set for a Christmas release, and he will be working on the film Gucci after that.
