According to Bloody Disgusting, we’re getting a new entry into the Texas Chainsaw Massacre series. And not one of those weird reboots, either. No, this film, appropriately titled Leatherface, is going to be a prequel to the original movie.

Now, there are a few warning signs to be aware of here. First, this flick has been in development since 2014 and it was completed in 2015. There have been re-shoots and Lionsgate has had cold feet about releasing the thing. Some take this to be an indication of quality or lack thereof. But I’m not going to judge. The thing looks gory as hell, and as long as we have some backwoods psychos doing some killing, we’ll probably be just fine.

Here’s a couple of stills from the movie, courtesy of Bloody Disgusting:

In a rather odd turn of events, Leatherface is going to be available exclusively to DirecTV subscribers starting on September 21st. The rest of us will have to wait until October 20th, when it’s released digitally.
