Gigi Buffon To Star In World of Tanks For World Cup Event

If you had told me that Gianluigi Buffon, widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers of his generation, would do this once he retired, you would have my permission to shoot me out of the cannon of a Sherman.

To coincide with the World Cup, World of Tanks is currently hosting Tank Football 2018: a 3v3 “sport” where players face off against each other. Buffon will be commentating the matches and cheering on the players, which is just barmy.

“Just when you think you’ve seen it all, World of Tanks will surprise you in the best possible way,” said Gianluigi Buffon. “I was excited to be a part of the Italian tanks release. Now they’ve blended my lifelong passion with tank combat. Roll out and see a little more of my skills!”

As for the gameplay, it’s similar to Rocket League but with big bastard tanks. The winning team are the ones who can score three goals before the other. It actually looks like a lot of fun.

Video games are great, aren’t they? World of Tanks is free-to-play; download it here.
