Alan Wake 2: All Editions, Prices & Pre-Order Bonus Explained

Alan Wake 2 Editions
Alan Wake 2

The Alan Wake universe is one that’s gone from being totally inactive to one of the hottest sci-fi properties around in no time at all. Following crossovers with Control and even a remaster of the original game, Alan Wake 2 is finally coming later this year and is shaping up to one of the best looking games ever made. All of that production quality doesn’t come cheap, so of course Alan Wake 2 also comes with different editions and pre-order bonuses.

Unfortunately, however, Alan Wake 2 also will not have a physical, which has been cited by the developers Remedy Entertainment as a cost-cutting measure to keep the price tag away from the £70/$70 threshold on console. While they don’t currently have any plans for physical, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them and Epic partner with someone like Limited Run to release something in the future. No Collector’s Edition for a AAA game in 2023 feels like an oversight.

If you’re sleeping on the game and want to figure out which version of Alan Wake 2 you should look into getting, we’ve got you covered.

No matter what platform you’re on, pre-ordering the game will also net you the below “free” DLC:

– Ornate Revolver Skin for Alan
– Survival Resources Pack for Saga

It’s not unclear yet if this pre-order bonus will be available after the game launches, but we’d put good money on it.

Alan Wake 2 | Standard Edition

Price: $49.99 / €49.99 / £39.99 on PC and $59.99 / €59.99 / £49.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series
Physical/Digital: Digital Only

The Standard Edition of Alan Wake 2 features nothing but the digital version of the game. The console version is more expensive than the PC version as Epic are publishing it directly through EGS, therefore they won’t need to give a third-party as much of their cut.

Alan Wake 2 | Deluxe Edition

Price: $69.99 / €69.99 / £54.99 on PC and $79.99 / €79.99 / £64.99 on PS5 and Xbox Series
Physical/Digital: Digital Only

The Alan Wake 2 Deluxe Edition contains the following digital items:

– Expansion Pass (Night Springs Expansion and Lake House Expansion)
– Nordic Shotgun Skin for Saga (Part of the Expansion Pass)
– Parliament Shotgun Skin for Alan
– Crimson Windbreaker for Saga
– Celebrity Suit for Alan
– Lantern Charm for Saga

Essentially what you’re getting is two expansions (much in the same way as Control’s The Foundation and AWE expansions) and a whole bunch of cosmetics. The expansions will likely release up to one year after the release of the main game. Again, there is no physical version of the Deluxe Edition.

About Alan Wake 2

Here’s a quick synopsis for this upcoming survival horror:

“Saga Anderson, an FBI profiler with a reputation for solving unsolvable cases, arrives in Bright Falls to investigate a string of ritualistic murders. The case slides into a nightmare when Anderson discovers pages of a horror story, a horror story that starts to come true…

Alan Wake, a lost writer trapped in a nightmare prison beyond our world, writes a dark story to shape reality in a desperate bid to escape. Hunted by an insatiable horror, Wake struggles to retain his sanity and beat the devil at his own game.

Anderson and Wake, two heroes on two desperate journeys. Two separate realities connected in ways neither of them can understand. Echoes become reflections. Reflections that can reach out to each other.Trapped in a horror story where there are only victims and monsters, can they break out to be the heroes they need to be?”

Alan Wake 2 releases October 17th, 2023 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.
