Pennyworth: Season 4 – Everything You Should Know

DC has a plethora of minor characters and sidekicks that they’ve only recently begun to explore in live-action. Alfred Pennyworth, Batman’s ever-faithful butler is on the top of that list. For three years and three seasons, Pennyworth has told the story of Alfred fighting secret fascist societies, and criminal PWEs (Person With Enhancements).

Maybe it wouldn’t have been exciting to watch a show where a man cooks, cleans, and nurses a billionaire playboy dressing up as a bat. So, it’s a good call for the show to dive into Alfred’s past. But has the past finally caught up to the future, or will there still be a Pennyworth: Season 4?

When Is Pennyworth: Season 4 Coming Out?

Pennyworth: Season 4 was canceled due to the reboot of the DCEU. With James Gunn and Peter Safran at the top, the franchise has just revealed all their upcoming projects. Sadly, Pennyworth: Season 4 just isn’t on that list.

As weird as it is, it seems that Alfred and Sandra’s wedding being cut off by London exploding is where the show ends. Obviously, Alfred, Lucius, and the Waynes survive well after that event. However, the fates of the other characters are now up to the fans’ imaginations.

What Could Pennyworth: Season 4 Be About?

Season 3 ended with a massive cliffhanger and more questions than answers. What happened to London after the bomb dropped? Did Alfred say I do? Did Aziz survive the explosion?

If James Gunn changes his mind about Pennyworth: Season 4, it will most likely be a season about tying up loose ends. It would also eventually lead up to how the Gotham series begins since Pennyworth was initially a spin-off of Gotham.

The season could start with Alfred and the rest of the crew cleaning up or at least attempting to salvage what they can in London. Unless that bomb was a nuke or filled with toxins, some lullaby-affected people would have survived. If they couldn’t restore the city, London, and maybe England itself, could fall.

Eventually though, Alfred and the Waynes will decide to finally leave London; heading back West to America. Specifically: Gotham. There Thomas and Martha will finally settle and manage their company. With Patrick Wayne dead, Thomas takes the role of CEO and can steer Wayne Enterprises down a better path.

Pennyworth: Season 4 Cast

Despite its cancellation, some fans are still holding out hope for Pennyworth: Season 4. If the demand for the show grows big enough, here are the cast members you can expect to see return.

  • Jack Bannon as Alfred Pennyworth
  • Ben Aldridge as Thomas Wayne
  • Emma Paetz as Martha Kane
  • Simon Manyonda as Lucius Fox
  • Paloma Faith as Bet Sykes
  • Dorothy Atkinson as Mary Pennyworth
  • Ryan Fletcher as Wallace “Daveboy” MacDougal
  • James Purefoy as Captain Gulliver “Gully” Troy

Where To Watch Pennyworth In The US

You can catch all three seasons of Pennyworth in the US on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, Directv, Google Play, Max, and Vudu.

If you’re already subscribed to Fubo or Spectrum, you can also watch Pennyworth there, although to a limited degree. Both of these services only have the first two Seasons.

Should Pennyworth: Season 4 somehow make it on air, you should also look for it on MGM+ (formerly Epix). MGM+ is where the show aired weekly long before Max took it in during Season 3. It was only during this transition period when the “The Origin of Batman’s Butler” subtitle was introduced.

Where To Watch Pennyworth In The UK

In the UK, Seasons 1-3 of Pennyworth are available on Apple TV, Amazon Prime Video, and Google Play.

Sky TV is another option, but it only has the first two seasons available.

MGM+ is region-blocked in the UK, so fans might not get to watch a potential Pennyworth: Season 4 right away. There is a workaround though, simply use a VPN to switch your IP address to an American IP. Now you can access MGM+ and other US-only services.

How Many Episodes Could Pennyworth: Season 4 Have?

Like the trusty butler himself, Pennyworth is nothing if not consistent. Pennyworth: Seasons 1, 2, & 3 all have 10 episodes each. Seasons 2 was split into two parts, but they still added up to 10 episodes. If Pennyworth: Season 4 ever rolls around, it would probably have the same episode count.

Does Pennyworth: Season 4 Have A Trailer?

Pennyworth: Season 4 doesn’t have an official trailer, and it might sadly never have one. Now that this particular chapter in Alfred’s life is over, fans simply have to be happy it happened at all. Now everyone knows that the Dark Knight’s uptight butler has lived an adventurous life, just like his master is doing now.
