The Harley Quinn animated series entertained viewers worldwide with a different version of the DC Universe than we’re used to. Its gory violence and adult humor were more than enough to hook people in ever since the first episode. Fast forward to today, Harley Quinn recently ended its fourth season, leaving fans longing for Season 5.

Considering how the previous season ended, the adult cartoon has yet to reach a conclusion story-wise. And with its loyal fanbase, it sounds like renewing Harley Quinn is a no-brainer, right? But has Max or DC greenlit a fifth season for Harley Quinn? Here’s everything you should know about Harley Quinn: Season 5.

When Is Harley Quinn: Season 5 Coming Out?

Update: Harley Quinn has been officially renewed for a fifth season. The news was confirmed in an official press release from Warner Bros. Discovery. However, a release date has yet to be announced so stay tuned for that.

Original Story: Unfortunately, Harley Quinn: Season 5 has no official release date. It’s also unclear whether or not a fifth season will happen at all.

In a press event at Comic-Con 2023, series producer Cecilia Aranovich Hamilton told Inverse: “Well, we don’t really know at this point. Nothing has been communicated directly to us. As far as we know, he [James Gunn] likes the show. You know, he was in it. [laughs] So we assume he’s a fan of the show. We don’t know exactly where we’re going to go from here.” While it looks like the show’s future is up in the air, there are a few hints circulating online regarding Harley Quinn: Season 5’s production.

For instance, someone discovered that Harley Quinn: Season 5 was registered on EIDR (Entertainment Identifier Registry). If you don’t know, EIDR is a database that includes all upcoming motion pictures, television, and radio programs. According to the registry, Harley Quinn: Season 5 will be released sometime in 2024. However, some cancelled shows also show up on the registry, such as Titans: Season 5, so take this with a grain of salt.

What Is Harley Quinn: Season 5 About?

The show’s unpredictable nature is one of the best elements it has got running for it. But, the fourth season did leave potential plot points unresolved that Season 5 could explore.

Recalling the previous season’s finale, the Gotham City Sirens were finally formed, which consists of Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, Catwoman, and Barbara Gordon (as Oracle). While this seems like the team-up of the century, their dynamic could be challenging, considering their histories and personalities.

On the other hand, Season 4 also ended with Talia al Ghul reviving Nightwing using the Lazarus Pit. After Harley Quinn accidentally killed him while sleepwalking, Nightwing will most likely seek revenge against our protagonist. Furthermore, Bruce Wayne was finally released from prison, so he might confront Harley about what happened with Nightwing.
