Gravity Falls: Season 3 – Everything You Should Know

Gravity Falls
Gravity Falls

It’s been over half a dozen years since Dipper and Mabel saved Gravity Falls. Is it finally time for Oregon’s weirdest family to make a comeback through Gravity Falls: Season 3? They finally beat Bill Cipher and put a stop to his reign of chaos, so will there even be a tale to tell?

After all, Bill Cipher was the reason why so many weird supernatural occurrences were happening in Gravity Falls. The show just wouldn’t be the same if Dipper and Mabel began solving regular mysteries instead. Well, no need to gather any more clues because here’s everything you should know about Gravity Falls: Season 3

When Is Gravity Falls: Season 3 Coming Out?

Unfortunately, series creator Alex Hirsch never intended for Gravity Falls to have a third season.

“I wanted Gravity Falls to have a mystery that had a real answer, an adventure that had a real climax, and an ending that had a real conclusion,” Hirsch says in a Tumblr post.

However, in an interview with TV Insider, Hirsch states that they may return to the world of Gravity Falls through specials, comics, or something else.

And, true to his word, several specials and shorts have come out since the Season 2 finale. These include Soos’ Stan Fiction, Gravity Falls x Line Rider, and the Call Me Maybe Parody. A comic book called Gravity Falls: Lost Legends even came out in 2018. Hopefully, there’s lots more content to come, but there’s currently no news on what, how, and when that’ll be.

What Would Gravity Falls: Season 3 Be About?

Since the future of Gravity Falls may just be special episodes, it could be about pretty much anything. They could go for a sequel, a side story that happens during the first two seasons, or maybe even a prequel.

If they go for a sequel, one likely story would be about Bill Cipher’s return. That’s right, despite his apparent death, there have been multiple hints that Bill might not be down for good. Admittedly, the clues are from sources that are arguably non-canon, such as the Dipper and Mabel and the Curse of the Time Pirates’ Treasure! book and the Lost Legends comic.

Gravity Falls: Season 3 Cast

Should Gravity Falls: Season 3 come, or if the show gets additional episodes or shorts, who will be in them? Well, that would depend largely on what those episodes are about. But if the special episodes are set within or close to the same time period as the other two seasons, the cast should remain unchanged. Here’s who you can expect to see in that eventuality.

  • Jason Ritter as Dipper Pines
  • Kristen Schaal as Mabel Pines
  • Alex Hirsch as Stanley “Stan” Pines, Jesus “Soos” Ramirez, and Bill Cipher
  • Linda Cardellini as Wendy Corduroy
  • J.K. Simmons as Ford Pines

Where To Watch Gravity Falls In The US

The likelihood of Gravity Falls: Season 3 is low; but if it does come, American fans should be able to watch it through Disney+. Gravity Falls is a Disney production, so there’s no reason for Disney+ not to include it. Amazon, Apple TV, Google Play, and Hulu might also get it since the first two seasons are available there now.

Aside from streaming services, future content would also likely appear on Disney TV channels. Disney XD would be an ideal channel, as it’s currently showing reruns of the first two seasons.

If you’re planning on watching Gravity Falls Seasons 1 and 2 through Disney XD, you should know that the order of episodes they release seems random. This can be confusing for first-time watchers of the show.

Where To Watch Gravity Falls In The UK

Similar to the US, UK watchers should also be able to catch Gravity Falls: Season 3, or whatever comes next, through Disney+, Amazon, Apple TV, and Google Play.

The only difference is Hulu since the service is only available in the US and Japan. Using Disney+ or any other option is more convenient, but if you really want to watch it on Hulu, you can. Use a VPN to change your IP address to the US or Japan to access it.

How Many Episodes Will Gravity Falls: Season 3 Have?

Seeing as both Season 1 and 2 had 20 episodes each, a potential Gravity Falls: Season 3 might follow that pattern. Again though, no actual confirmations on Season 3 yet, so this is purely speculative.

Does Gravity Falls: Season 3 Have A Trailer?

Nope. And until an official announcement for Gravity Falls: Season 3 comes, don’t hold your breath. The best outcome is if a trailer drops at the same time as an announcement, but that still isn’t likely to come anytime soon. Alex Hirsch is still busy with numerous untitled projects with Netflix.
