Delicious in Dungeon anime

Dungeon Meshi, better known as Delicious in Dungeon, is an upcoming fantasy cooking anime where, if it wasn’t obvious already, the protagonists are trapped inside a dungeon and the only source of sustenance they can find is the monsters they hunt. After a decently successful run which started back in 2015 with a manga, there’s finally a Delicious in Dungeon anime on the horizon, and if you’re a fan of culinary adventures like Food Wars!, you’re in for a ride.

The anime is set to debut soon, and it’ll be airing in two back-to-back parts. Here’s everything you need to know about the Delicious in Dungeon anime, including its story, release window, and more.

When Is Delicious in Dungeon Anime Coming Out?

The Delicious in Dungeon anime is scheduled to premiere in January 2024. An exact air date hasn’t been revealed so far, but you can bet that Netflix will confirm that in a final teaser trailer early during the month.

What’s more is that Studio Trigger, the animation company behind 2022’s anime of the year Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, is animating the Delicious in Dungeon anime. While the story will still depend on how good the manga is, at least anime fanatics anticipating the show can have no worries when it comes to the visuals.

What Is Delicious in Dungeon Anime About?

When one of the party members, Laios’ sister Falin, gets eaten by a dragon, the entire party retreats as they have no provisions. But Laios couldn’t just leave his sister to die, so he proposes the company eat monster meat to survive and do their best to get Falin back.

The party is hesitant at first, but as Falin’s life hangs in the balance, they are willing to commit the taboo act of eating monster meat, albeit they cook and season it first. The manga is over 90 chapters long, and the first season will likely have over 20 episodes, so brace yourselves for an epic dungeon-crawling and monster-meat-eating adventure.
