BMF, or Black Mafia Family, is an American crime drama series which was first released in 2021. Created by Randy Huggins and produced by hip-hop icon 50 Cent, the show is based on the true story of brothers Demetrius “Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest Tee” Flenory, who birth a drug dealing operation that starts off in the streets of Detroit but grows into one of the most successful criminal enterprises in American history.
Though the actual downfall of the Black Mafia Family didn’t happen until the DEA convicted members of the organization in 2005, including the Flenory brothers, the show still has a long way to go before that happens. With Season 2 concluding in March 2023, fans will be eager to know when BMF: Season 3 will be returning to Starz.
When is BMF: Season 3 Coming Out?
People won’t have to wait long, as BMF: Season 3 is set to return on March 1st 2024. Now, while the WGA strikes might affect this – there’s already been some drama with producer Ian Woolf being let go after threatening some of the picketers – filming has reportedly been concluded on the third season according to one of the show’s main actors, so unless there are any major changes, the latest installment should come out as scheduled.
Will the Cast return for BMF: Season 3?
Most of BMF’S core cast of characters will be returning for Season 3, among them are Demetrius Flenory Jr. AKA Lil Meech playing his father and Da’Vinchi as Southwest T. Recurring characters will also make a reappearance, from major side characters like Myles Truitt as B-Mickie to recurring cameos like Snoop Dogg as Pastor Swift.
Not all will be returning though. Kash Doll’s Monique was killed by Lamar in the Season 2 finale, while Lamar, played by Eric Kofi-Abrefa, has an uncertain fate as the season concluded on a cliffhanger with him passing out after using crack.
What Could BMF: Season 3 Be About?
As previously mentioned, the BMF has a storied history, with their origins dating back to 1985 until the eventual collapse in 2005. With that being said, BMF season 3’s plot is supposed to take place in the early 1990s. With Detective Bryant turning in his badge as well as being blackmailed to stay away from the BMF, the brothers will hopefully enjoy less pressure from law enforcement. Season 2 focused on the duo trying to establish the BMF as a reputed crime enterprise, and it looks like their efforts are paying off.
However, considering how the BMF actually ended, there is still a lot of potential for conflict, with new enemies and obstacles that the brothers have to face. As their enterprise only continues to grow in the TV adaptation, it will bring more unwanted attention. Showrunner Heather Zuhkle reflects this as well, as she said in an interview with Variety that this would be a “season of reinvention.”
