Terry Border Bends Everyday Objects for Art Series

It’s very easy throughout day-to-day life to anthropomorphize things. A set of headlights might seem like eyes, a tree branch might look like a waving hand, even Andrew Lloyd Webber might bear a passing resemblance to a human in some lights. Terry Border has capitalised on this concept with his ‘Bent Objects’ photography series, in which he casts run of the mill household items as people and other living things. “We all have different perspectives and my perspective happens to be kind of strange and twisted.” claims Border.

Border started out just using wire models, but then, seeing the resemblance struck by certain objects when he availed them of wired limbs, he began to get really creative with it. Initially he put the sculptures up for sale, with little success, but when he started publishing the photographs online the broader possibilities became clear and this is the result. You can see the full gallery on Border’s website and if you’re so inclined you can check out his slightly more NSFW collection in the ‘Really Bent‘ gallery.
