The music calendar for the new year is already looking pretty stacked, and none of the upcoming releases are quite as exciting as I See You, the latest LP from The xx, due to drop this Friday 13th (provided Jason Voorhees doesn’t interfere). Late last year we got our first taste with ‘On Hold’, and now we’ve got ‘Say Something Loving’.
It’s been such a long time since Coexist that it’s just uplifting to hear the way Oliver Sim and Romy Madley Croft harmonise, but more than anything else this track is representative of how far Jamie XX has come in the past 5 years. The sample, pulled from ‘Do You Feel It?’ by the Alessi Brothers – is perfectly placed, and the track continues to rise and grow for the entire 4 minute run.
