Rocket League: Xbox and PC Players Can Now Play Each Other

If you haven’t played Rocket League yet, go out and get it, now. I have never experienced such a wealth of different emotions when playing one game; frustration, anger, joy and utter contempt for your teammates when they score an own goal that loses you the match. Simply put, Rocket League is a fantastic game.

Today, Psyonix released a patch that lets PC and Xbox players take part in matches together. Personally, this should only be encouraged; more players means more fun and more outrageous goals. The real test would be whether PlayStation and Xbox players would be allowed to play against each other.

But, for the moment, we can all bathe in the beauty of modern technology by controlling a small car and trying to punt a ball into a goal from the other end of the pitch with people from all around the world on both PCs and Xbox Ones.

Yet, could this be a warming of hearts between console and PC? Whilst their relationship has not been as strained as that between PlayStation and Xbox, we may see in the future the breaking down of the metaphorical Berlin Wall with Xbox and PlayStation players being pitted against each other in Rocket League.

But if you want to keep your multiplayer clientele exclusively PC/console then you can always turn off ‘Cross-Network Play’ in the options menu in the game.
