Ridley Scott Helping to Make Alien: Covenant Virtual Reality App

Alien Covenant

Is there anything Ridley Scott can’t do? He works harder than most people half his age, and this news just confirms that.

Ahead of the film’s release later this year, The Verge reports that Alien: Covenant will be getting its own virtual reality companion app. Scott will be helping to produce the app with his production company RSA Films, MPC VR, and the Fox Innovation Lab.

According to the latter, the app will be:

“…a dread-inducing journey into the depths of the Alien universe.”

This isn’t the Alien universe’s first foray into virtual reality as Alien: Isolation had its own VR demo, though it never made it to wider release.

Not much else is known about the game as the platforms it will be released on has yet to be announced. You have to wonder how well battling xenomorphs will transfer to VR, though – it’s not exactly an experience that will stand up well to not making you violently sick. Alien games are notorious for being hit-and-miss, so it’s going to be interesting to see how this one pans out.

Alien: Covenant is out May 19th.
