PS4 Neo to Be Revealed on September 7th?

PS4 PlayStation 4

According to sources on the French gaming website Gameblog the PS4 ‘Neo’ will be revealed to all in New York on September 7th. This is indeed exciting news for PlayStation fans however Gameblog’s sources have chosen to remain anonymous so there may still need to be an official announcement by Sony on this subject.

Coming from Patrick Klepek, the senior reporter for Vice Gaming, he confirmed on Twitter that the unveiling of the ‘Neo’ will be a “technical showcase” of the upgraded hardware. So what we can see here is not necessarily a ‘slimmed down’ version like that of the PS2, but more of beefier more powerful PS4 that can pushing gaming to its limits in terms of graphics and visuals.
TechRadar.com explains that the ‘Neo’ will be Sony’s first ever 4K console and should hopefully bring just a little more bang for your buck if you’re looking for that upgraded and enhanced experience.

One question on my mind is this, how much will this set prospective customers back? Well that is something that will need to be answered by Sony when their new baby is finally ready for its first outing in public. One thing is for certain, they will have a lot of questions from the media and the public alike. If I wanted to enjoy Fallout 4 in all its glory in 4k resolution would I need to buy it again for the ‘Neo’? Will the hardware be interchangeable?

However this will be an interesting announcement by Sony who are still catching some flak for not keeping up with the competition when it comes to backwards compatibility and lack of mod support. Most notoriously, Fallout 4 players not being able to use mods and Xbox One users being able to relive the Rockstar classic Red Dead Redemption whilst PS4 owners will more than likely have to dust off their PS3’s to replay RDR.

My calendar is marked, reminders are set on my phone. Sony, it’s over to you.
