Pokemon Go Earns Almost Half of All Mobile Gaming Purchases in One Day

Pokemon Go

Look out your window, there’s people playing Pokemon Go. Look at your hand, you’re playing Pokemon Go. Close your eyes for five seconds, open your eyes and find yourself stumbling through a forest looking for an elusive Pikachu. Niantic’s creation is beyond addictive, which is probably why it’s currently killing it in earnings compared to other mobile games.

According to Slice Intelligence, Pokemon Go earns 47% of all mobile gaming earnings in a day, using data from July 10th. That number is probably even higher now.

According to the same data, Pokemon Go is turning people into free-to-play payers for the first time, including myself. i spent 79p on a Lure Module at the girlfriend’s behest, so I imagine that the low price ceiling is making a lot of people dip into their life savings. 37% of people are buying the 100 coin bundle, the exact amount needed for a Lure Module.

It’s a number that’s probably already much, much larger, but Pokemon Go has earned $14million for Niantic already and skyrocketed the share prices of Nintendo by 86% in Tokyo. That’s $17 billion to you and I. To catch ’em all, apparently you have to spend ’em all.

If this keeps up, they might not even need to add sponsored PokeStops after all.
