Overwatch Review in Progress

Overwatch

Despite all the hype surrounding it, I only really became excited for Overwatch once the game was installing. I’ve never been big on properties similar to it, but the hype hit me like a freight train all at once, despite never having played the beta. Although I’m only about ten hours into my Overwatch experience so far, I can’t recommend it enough.

As I spend more time with the game, this review will be updated until it’s complete. Below are some of my initial, incredibly disjointed impressions that I will add to the more I play.

– Varied character choice; all with their own pros and cons.
– The music would be worthy of a real battle.
– Understated, beautiful graphics.
– Bastion is a bastiard.
– Impressive variety of maps.
– Much better with friends, still enjoyable without.
– Reinhardt is my go-to choice.
– Bit of a moodkiller to have to traipse back to the objective from the spawn point after every death.
– Connection is mostly stable.
– Good variety of modes.
– Wow, I really suck with McRee.
– The multiplayer is so good that a lack of campaign is forgivable.
– Team balance is vital.
– Terrible teamwork on PS4, not enough people on mic.
– Loot boxes are okay, just really cosmetic.
– Consistent framerate on console.
– Roadhog is now my guy.
– Every Reaper player has a cringeworthy name.
– Go alone, die alone.
