Not enough Hermione Granger in your life? Disney have you covered. Here’s the first trailer for Disney’s lavish live action reimagining of Beauty and the Beast. Is it just us, or has Emma Watson been caught by a befuddlement curse that makes her think inanimate objects can talk?
In all seriousness though, Disney seem to be going all in with remaking their classic back catalogue. Already we’ve seen Cinderella, The Jungle Book and Maleficent (a twist on Sleeping Beauty), and from the trailer it looks like the Mouse House have spent a mountain of cash remaking Beauty and the Beast.
Casting Notes
Emma Watson stars as Belle, with Downton Abbey’s Dan Stevens filling the role of the Beast. Not that you’re likely to recognise him behind all the CGI. You’ll also find Luke Evans as Gaston and Kevin Kline as Belle’s father Maurice. Since Disney has all the money these days they’ve also been able to afford Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Emma Thompson and Stanley Tucci for the supporting cast.
So since these remakes are netting Disney money hand over fist it’s kind of inevitable we’ll be getting more of them. What do we think they should do next?
