New Rainbow Six Siege Patch Nerfs Pulse in a Big Way

Rainbow Six Pulse

The team at Ubisoft have long been dedicated to keeping Rainbow Six Siege alive and well, which is demonstrated in the latest patch for the game. After listening to community feedback, the 4.1 patch will nerf Pulse and also limit the damage caused by semi-auto shotguns.

Pulse, who recently had a major buff to make his Heartbeat Sensor one of the best gadgets in the game, will no longer be able to swap from his gadget to his weapon (1.2 seconds instead of 0.4) and will also limit its effectiveness from range (nine metres instead of 13).

According to the patch notes:

“The previous update that we did on Pulse’s Heartbeat Sensor not only made it more comfortable to use, but it also made him stronger since the frequency of the heartbeat detection updates became higher. Combined with the fact that it was possible to switch extremely fast from the Heartbeat Sensor to the main gun, this made him too strong–our gameplay stats and the community feedback made that very clear. ”

That’s a big shame. I had only just started using Pulse on my way through the relentless grind of reaching 25000 renown to unlock the new operators. Guess I will just be Rook again and be everybody’s armour bitch boy.

Semi-auto shotguns will also be getting downgraded in the patch:

“Our intention is to make semi-automatic shotguns carry out incredible damage at short range, but lessen their impact significantly from medium to long range. The damage falloff from the original damage output will now be more noticeable. At longer ranges, the accuracy of the shots will also be harder to predict with precision, as players will have less gradually less control the further away they are from their target.”

Smaller additions in the patch will focus on performance and stability as well as making it clearer when a player is dead with a large ‘X’ on the screen.
