New Harry Potter Book Announced

A delight for fans new and old is the phrase everyone has been wanting to say for a long time: There’s going to be a new Harry Potter book.

Earlier today, Little, Brown UK tweeted that it was going to be publishing the script of the upcoming play, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Despite a full Harry Potter book having not been published since Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, yet author J.K Rowling has been expanding the universe with site Pottermore, as well as the upcoming trilogy Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The tweet of the new book was quickly retweeted by Rowling, meaning that the certainty that this is true and not some cruel joke on fans is high. It’s not just a tie-in either, as it features an original story by Rowling, as well as John Tiffany and Jack Thorne.

Even though it may not be the novel that everybody dreamed of, fans will be dusting off their wands to get at this new instalment in the franchise. Pottermore even wrote that it is separated into two-installments due to the “epic nature of the story”.

Set straight after the epilogue of Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows, it features the children of our favorite wizard, as well as his children, we can presume.

The possibility of another film will definitely excite fans. It seems everything is set just for it to remain a play at the moment, but with the amount of people who would go see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child as a movie, it seems likely. Due to it being set after the epilogue, it gives the actors plenty of time to do other films and age so that they’re ready for the role. Also, due to its success, maybe it’ll lead to more plays in the Hogwarts universe.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child will debut on Saturday the 30th of July. The script will be released one day later, on the 31st.
