New Band of the Month: Sam Green and The Midnight Heist

new band of the month august

Back in July, we Cultured Vultures decided to shake things up a little and get you, our beloved meal tickets…uh, readers, I meant readers, more involved when it comes to deciding who gets to proudly receive our monthly patronage, and adorn the honour of Cultured Vultures New Band of Month. Knocking our bald beaky bonces together we offered up quite the tasty selection of musicians for you to pick over; ranging from metalcore through folk and blues by way of psychedelia and indie.

Well, the votes are in and, by a phenomenal landslide, your New Band of the Month for August are the right rollicking Sam Green and the Midnight Heist.

My cultured colleague, Callum Davies, made the bid for Sam Green and the Midnight Heist, having attested to their ability to get a song stuck in his head, when he saw them last year, and have it remain there a whole year later, and in droves it appears our readers agreed. So, good luck getting these other songs out your noggin anytime soon.

Now, for a bit of back story to help you get to know your New Band of the Month a little better. As with all good adventures, Sam Green started his by busting his chops and mastering his craft through six years of studying music in London, alongside quickly becoming quite the session musician. However, as with all good adventurers, Green began to feel a bit too comfortable in these surroundings and got the adventuring itch. Deciding to take a risk, Green moved back home to start pursuing a solo career and add another string to his bow (well, guitar really) by learning lap slide too.

After some time spent shifting pool tables, in Devon, with his old man, Green had levelled up on his lap slide and found the ragtag backing band required for any good adventure in The Midnight Heist. Our hero and his gang together, Sam Green and The Midnight Heist hit the road, and they’ve been hitting that road hard ever since; touring religiously, and taking their contemporary cocktail of classic sounds along with them – SG&TMH are able to blend melodious traditional folk, blistering bar-ready blues, down-home country music, earthy roots rock, contemporary choruses, and a very modern technical technique.

Perfect timing for SG&TMH to make New Band of the Month because their hitting the summer festivals soon.
