Currently in the middle of its second season, the USA Network has confirmed that Mr. Robot has been renewed for a third season.

Focusing on troubled computer genius Elliot Alderson (played by Rami Malek) and Anonymous-inspired hacktivist collective fsociety, it has won a number of awards, including Golden Globes for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film (for Christian Slater’s performance as the titular Mr. Robot).

The show, created by Sam Esmail, has also garnered six nominations for the upcoming Emmy Awards.

“We couldn’t be more proud of Mr. Robot, a series that has pushed boundaries, captured the cultural zeitgeist, and been honored as one of the best dramas on television,” said Chris McCumber, President, Entertainment Networks for NBCUniversal Cable Entertainment, as reported on the USA Network’s website. “Midway through its second season, Mr. Robot continues to break new ground and open up new opportunities for the network. We can’t wait to see where Sam Esmail and the entire brilliant Robot team take us next.”

The show, which is currently six episodes into a twelve-episode season, will finish its current run in September 2016, before returning for the next season in 2017.
