Marvel vs Capcom Infinite Announced at PSX 2016

Marvel vs Capcom Infinite

At today’s Playstation Experience 2016, Capcom announced a sequel to 2011’s mash-up brawler Marvel vs Capcom 3, entitled Marvel vs Capcom Infinite.

The ‘Infinite’ title comes from the focus on Marvel’s Infinity Stones, objects that currently play a significant role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the announcement trailer, returning character Ryu is seen using one of the stones to enhance his abilities. Outlined on the Playstation Blog, this will be known as ‘Infinity Power’, which “can be implemented into players’ strategies as a way to influence the outcome of battle. Each Infinity Stone provides a unique advantage to the player and represents a different aspect of the universe: power, space, time, reality, soul, and mind.”

Other characters in the trailer include Mega Man, Iron Man and new-to-the-series Captain Marvel. Unusually, this iteration of the series will break away from its traditional 3v3 formula and feature 2v2 battles.

Shortly after this announcement, it was also revealed that Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 will be released today on current generation consoles and will be arriving on PC in March 2017.
