The Lab from Half-Life 2 Recreated in Insane Detail

It’s getting to the point now that whenever I see a news post with Half-Life (or even Valve, or Steam, hell, even Gabe) in the headline, I get a pang of disappoint where the pang of excitement used to go, because I just know it’s going to have no information about Half-Life 3. The second game is now almost 10 years old and we’re still patiently waiting for even the vaguest hint that the successor is on the way.

Thankfully in the mean time there’s been plenty of fan-made content to spice things up. The entire first game was recreated in the source engine to become Black Mesa, for starters and there have been plenty of other interesting mods, fan films and webcomics to go around and now we have this new offering from 3D artist Charlie Pharis. He started out by simply taking a screenshot of Dr. Kleiner’s makeshift lab and painting over it. After a few weeks of diligent work, he had a whole new, retouched recreation.
