KUBRICK: An Art Show Re-Imagining

Stanley Kubrick is widely accepted to be one of the greatest film directors, pretty much ever. This can be attributed to the breadth of genre he worked within, the themes his films covered and conveyed, his innovation in filmmaking techniques, his singular vision down to every little detail, the legend surrounding him as a person, or simply the fact that the man made some of cinema’s stone cold classics (monoliths if you will…). I mean it’s up for debate whether he was a mastermind, or a control freak, a genius or just plain nuts (most likely? all of the above), but his films speak for themselves and he is still revered today.

Hence why the Spoke Art gallery are currently exhibiting the work of over 60 artists who were asked to re-imagine the films, the characters, the scenes, and the themes of Kubrick. These re-imaginings have taken form in numerous mediums from sculpture to painting, but here are a few select cuts for you to enjoy.

P.S. If you want to learn more about the exhibit or the artists included, have a sniff around HERE
