Kingdom: Seven Flags Brings The Popular Manga Series To Mobile

The free-to-play (or more appropriately, fee-to-pay) mobile craze continues, with the popular manga franchise Kingdom by Yasuhisa Hara now getting the treatment in the form of Kingdom: Seven Flags.

First published in 2006, Kingdom follows a young warrior named Xin and he ascends to the rank of general in war-torn ancient China. It went on to sell over 20 million copies, and an anime adaptation followed in 2012.

Kingdom: Seven Flags will be published by Bandai Namco and features large scale battles with over 10,000 soldiers, as shown in the announcement trailer below. Many characters from the manga series will also be making appearances. It’s due for release in Japan later this year, so head over to its official website (God bless Google Translate) to learn more.

Do you think that this has the potential to be a truly great mobile game (or as close to greatness as a microtransaction-laden free-to-play title can get) or are Bandai Namco making the same mistake that Square Enix made with their abomination Final Fantasy: All the Bravest by assuming that slapping a popular brand name onto a little-considered production will guarantee success?
