Jump Street/Men in Black Crossover Considered: Even Michael Bay Prays For Death

As memos between Sony executives continue to make the rounds online (thanks for reminding us that the world is a sad, angry hallway of broken dreams and drunk, weeping angels, internet hackers), tens of thousands of weary film nerds took to Google today. Because it couldn’t be so. It just couldn’t be true that the unloved bastard hoards at Sony are considering the potential of a crossover between two of its biggest franchises, the Jump Street films, and the Men in Black series.

It would seem to be so. Both Phil Lord and Chris Miller, who have had more success with the two Jump Street films than anyone ever would have guessed, are currently attached to a film that would involve Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum’s Jump Street characters interacting with the MiB universe in some capacity.

Look it up. Go ahead. Check the calendar. It’s still December. Your life is still spiraling out of control.

Very little else is known, except that it seems extremely unlikely that Tommy Lee Jones, Will Smith, or even Josh Brolin (who seems like a guy who might be game for a movie whose entire reason for existence seems to be centered around the notion of “Oh, why the fuck not?”) would be involved. No one is going to blame them. After all, if you’re going to be in hell, you may as well go check out the Lynard Skynard-John Lennon super-group that everyone in the underworld has been raving about.

When asked to comment on the potential for a Jump Street/MiB film, Rip Torn hurled a glass bottle of Old Crow to the floor, and then promptly went back to sleep.
Meanwhile, rumors of a crossover between Forrest Gump and the Jason Bourne films have failed (yet) to garner momentum.
