Why Janice Atkinson Needs to Resign From UKIP

Janice Atkinson

After the European elections in May, UKIP seemed to disappear off of the face of the earth. With no elections coming up they weren’t getting the constant air time and thankfully I could finally read about something else if I looked at the BBC news app on my iPod. In the last couple of weeks however, UKIP has once again been given air time due to some of its members making controversial and racist remarks…

Janice Atkinson recently said after an interview on BBC South East Today, “…so that was good. We’ve got Fa, who’s, I dunno, she’s a ting tong from somewhere.” Now this isn’t the first time Janice Atkinson has made controversial remarks, as some of her previous remarks include her showing support for selective education and explaining to Conservative MP’s the closeness of her views to that of the BNP.

To put it bluntly, this woman sounds like a racist bitch who should be kept far away from any position of power. Nigel Farage really needs to make good on his promise that UKIP “are not a racist party”, by firing the woman publically. What amuses me about this story is that both the husband and his Thai wife Fa Munday are members of UKIP; Janice Atkinson was actually stupid enough to insult members of her own party! Although I’m sure the woman who admits to agreeing with the BNP would rather only white people of British descent be allowed to join the party…

This is just the latest and I’m sure not the last racist, homophobic, misogynistic or just generally bigoted comment that we’ll hear from the United Kingdom Independence Party. Some of them may be slightly amusing due to how ridiculous they are, like when David Silvester said that God caused the floods to punish us for gay marriage. Or when John Sullivan said exercise prevents people being gay (because you never see gay people at the gym). But people still vote for these people despite these comments, so many people that they even won the European Elections.

Now don’t think for a second that UKIP will win the general election, but could you imagine them in a coalition with the Conservatives?

The terrifying thought that Janice Atkinson could be given a position on the cabinet, like Secretary to Education, teaching the next generation to be homophobic racists like herself. I think we’ll even beg for Michael Gove back at that point, God forbid!

Perhaps most damning of all, Mr. Munday said: “We both feel betrayed, and it’s absolutely outrageous what she said. Come rain or shine, I was out there leafleting for UKIP, and we get rewarded with this racist bigotry.

“When we heard the comments, we were absolutely shell-shocked. Nobody should speak like that, not at all. I firmly believe that Nigel Farage doesn’t have a racist bone in his body, but Janice Atkinson quite evidently does.

“I’m disgusted.”
