It may not be anywhere near as big as some of the other online multiplayer games, but Heroes & Generals, which was developed and published by Danish studio Reto-Moto, has now surpassed over eight million players, which is still pretty damn impressive. This news comes more than two years after the game was released on July 11, 2014.

Set during the Second World War, Heroes & Generals is, unsurprisingly, free-to-play, although (shock horror) microtransactions are present, so expect your wallet to feel a little lighter after a few gaming sessions.

Reto-Moto continue to add new content and features to the game, which should help to keep it alive for years to come. If you haven’t yet got in on the action, head over to Steam to experience Heroes & Generals for yourself.
