Just when you thought Overwatch couldn’t get more magnificently ridiculous, Blizzard go and do this. They’ve just revealed the new map that will be soon coming to the game: Eichenwalde.
Oh yeah, it’s totally a castle.
Featuring drawbridges, ramparts, and a cannon, this is a map that looks like it could be a lot of fun – imagine all the nooks and crannies you can explore and avoid all responsibilities of teamwork in. It’s also one of the most meticulously detailed maps to date and feature one hell of a blatant Easter egg: possibly Reinhardt slumped on a throne.
Eichenwalde is incidentally where Bastion originates from. During the human and omnic war, omnics used Bastion units, but after their loss, all of the units were either deactivated or unaccounted for. The latest animated Overwatch short, The Last Bastion, will air on Thursday, so we might be able to find out some answers then. There’s no doubting that people will be dissecting this new trailer to see if there are any hidden hints to Sombra either.
If you’re one of the lucky few, Eichenwalde will be playable at Gamescom 2016.
