Free Playstation Plus Games For August 2015 Announced

After July’s surprisingly excellent Rocket League was released for free to Playstation Plus members, the following month was always going to have a mountain to climb. Although the free Playstation Plus games for August 2015 are still pretty good, there isn’t quite as much to get excited about. That’s not to say that we won’t be having a lot of fun playing these free new games on the 4th of August.

Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4)

As the marquee game for this month, Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris might not excite as much as cars and balls, but it’s still a very solid release. If you’ve ever played a Tomb Raider game, you know what to expect here: jumping and shooting aplenty. Temple of Osiris sets itself apart from other games by featuring four player co-op and possibly the most insane storyline yet as you team up with Egyptian gods. Right.

God of War: Ascension (PS3)

The prequel sequel to the beloved slash ’em up makes its way to the Playstation 3 this August. Not quite as well-received as its predecessors, Ascension takes place six months after the death of Kratos’ family and sees the pale one attempt to escape a prison for his crimes, which we obviously know is going to happen as we have seen three bad boys before this God of War.

Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (PS4, PS3 and PS Vita)

A game I have always personally kept an eye but never felt quite right about paying money for, the second Stealth Inc is the first indie of note from August’s free Playstation Plus games. As you might expect from the title, it’s a stealth adventure which sees you trying to attempt to escape an evil testing facility as a twee little robot. It’s pretty long as well, taking place over an impressive sixty levels.

Limbo (PS4)

As I write this with gritted teeth after realising that I paid for this game a week ago, it’s worth noting that Limbo is an absorbing, eerie game that showcases the series of ways in which to kill a young boy. Download the game once it’s available on Playstation Plus and tell me that’s not what it basically entails.

CastleStorm Complete Edition (PS3 and PS Vita)

At some point this July, I looked at myself in the mirror and let out a little cry that I hadn’t played a 2D medieval warfare game in a long, long time. Huzzah, I cried, upon discovering that Castlestorm was coming to PS3 and PS Vita on Playstation Plus. Experience the mayhem across multiple modes and cherish knocking down your frenemy’s castle pride and joy.

Sound Shapes (PS4, PS3 and PS Vita)

Blend sound and shapes together in this little indie darling of a game. Worth a play once it becomes available but it will probably be the last one I rush to try; there’s too much going on here for my fragile little mind.

The list in full:
Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PS4)
Limbo (PS4)
God of War Ascension (PS3)
Stealth Inc 2: A Game of Clones (PS4, PS3, PS Vita)
Sound Shapes (PS4, PS3, PS Vita)
CastleStorm Complete Edition (PS3, PS Vita)

And what will be leaving on August 4th:
Rocket League (PS4)
Styx Master of Shadows (PS4)
Rain (PS3)
Mousecraft (PS4, PS3, PS Vita)
Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions Evolved (PS Vita)
Entwined (PS4, PS Vita)
