One of the best games of 2016 is also one of its most successful, we’re happy to report.

Campo Santo, a studio filled with gaming royalty who just decided to get together to make game, recently announced on Twitter that Firewatch has surpassed 1 million copies sold with still two months to go until it turns a year old.

For an indie game with relatively limited appeal, that’s fantastic.

The barrier was broken at the end of 2016, which must have been the perfect way to cap off the year.

Firewatch originally launched on PS4 and PC in February with an Xbox One coming in the months to follow.

Thanks to its interesting premise, Firewatch was also greenlit for the big screen late last year. While a sequel is highly unlikely, it’s going to be interesting to see where camp, um, Campo Santo go from here.
