In news that should shock absolutely nobody who’s been watching the trend of every movie ever made being turned into a TV show this year, it’s been revealed that the 2004 cult classic Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind will be coming to a small screen near you soon.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the show’s producer will be Anonymous Content’s Steve Golin, who also had the same role for the film. It’s still in its early stages, but all being well, the film will be remade into a series with Universal Cable Productions also involved.

No news yet on who will be involved, but the film’s writer, Charlie Kaufman, will not be involved. Scribing duties will reportedly fall to Zev Borrow, most famous for his work on Chuck. No news on who will be starring, though it’s a safe bet that none of the original cast will be coming aboard. It will be interesting to see how they hope to emulate the original cast.

In case you didn’t know, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is the story of a recently estranged couple who have procedures to have their memories of the relationship removed. Joel (Jim Carrey) has second thoughts in the middle of it, however, leading to a twisty, emotional story that becomes more prevalent the more the years go by. For my money, this is as good a movie we’ve had in the 21st century so far, so no pressure, guys. As long as it isn’t as bad as Rush Hour and Lethal Weapon, you should avoid a lynching.
