Dead Rising Remasters Released Today

Dead Rising Triple Pack

A remastered collection of the Dead Rising series has finally hit the shelves. As part of the game’s ten year anniversary, Frank West returns with the upgraded version for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Along with Dead Rising 2 and Off the Record, which will be portable to both next-gen consoles.

As most of you may already know, in Dead Rising you play as Frank West, a photojournalist who ends up trapped in a shopping mall crawling with zombies. There, as you explored the mall, you could use almost any kind of object to defend yourself against these walking corpses. And as Frank uncovered the truth about the incident – rescuing survivors along the way – he also had to fight off the main bosses: various levels of deranged humans.

A few years later, Dead Rising 2 was released. Following a similar structure as Dead Rising, we are once again trapped in a shopping complex, playing as Chuck Greene, who not only needs to survive the next zombie apocalypse but also has to find Zombrex – a type of medication that suppresses the zombification process – for his daughter, Katey.

The major difference in gameplay was the inclusion of crafting weapons. A nice addition, making for a more creative and funnier experience. Who said killing zombies had to be boring?

The last game to be “remastered” is Off the Record, a complete re-telling of Dead Rising 2 with Frank West replacing Chuck Greene as the main protagonist. Even if it’s good to see Frank West again, the game itself isn’t considered canon within the Dead Rising continuity. As it completely changes the plot and characters’ motivations. But a fun game, nonetheless.

Individually, they are priced at around twenty dollars. But if you buy the Dead Rising Triple Pack, you can save about seventeen percent. Not a bad deal. Especially if you want to play all of them in your PS4 or Xbox One.

However, if you already have all three games on PC, I would recommend buying only the first game. Dead Rising is a fun ride, but updated graphics wouldn’t hurt the gameplay.
