August’s Free PlayStation Plus Games Lineup is the Worst One Yet

I’ve always defended the Playstation Plus free game line-ups, as underwhelming as they have often been. However, when you compare August’s line-up versus the one Xbox One owners are getting, the winner is clear.

Here’s the full lineup:

Tricky Towers, PS4
Rebel Galaxy, PS4
Yakuza 5, PS3
Retro/Grade, PS3
Patapon 3, PS Vita
Ultratron, PS Vita, PS3, PS4

It’s not that the games included this month for PlayStation 4 are particularly bad, they’re just rather uninspired. People have been crying out for AAA games and Sony listened with NBA 2K16 last month. Tricky Towers, a formulaic looking Tetris with magic, and Rebel Galaxy, a space combat RPG with a lot of rough edges, aren’t quite at the same level.

The disappointment has been felt by many, especially so for those that have been listening to the rumours about Battlefield 4 being one of the free games this month. Compare August’s line-up to the likes of Outlast, Super Meat Boy, Limbo, Rocket League, and Furi that have previously been included and the gulf in quality seems even wider.

However, I will still be downloading and playing these both, if only to see if I might have jumped the gun, Rebel Galaxy in particular. Hell, I may even dust off the old PS3 for some Yakuza. How about you?
